“Write my content in the style of Ron Swanson” might sound like an odd prompt to tell your AI, but go try it! AI models have absorbed most of the content produced by humans, and has good context for who certain characters are.

Others to try are ‘be presidential’, ‘father christmas in a bad mood’, ‘a wise older sister’… you’re only limited by your imagination.

Oftentimes you will find a persona that really suits how you want to sound, and you can then add that to your prompt every time you need to write an email or a blog post.

  • Sometimes finding a personality won’t be the right thing for you, but instead, it might be a grade level you like. This has nothing to do with your abilities or the abilities of your audience, but instead what level feels right for what you’re trying to do. The Wall Street Journal is reportedly written to a 8-11th grade level, and most tabloids to 5th.
  • ChatGPT about THIS email: “The email appears to be written at a grade level appropriate for someone in high school, around 10th to 12th grade. It uses clear and accessible language, with some more advanced concepts (like ethical considerations in AI and references to legal cases) that would be understandable to a high school student or older audience.”
